Join us on February 16th to prepare your gear and hone your techniques for early season hunting.  With White Sea Bass moving in more heavily it’s time to set up for kelp stalking and pelagic opportunities.  Learn how to prepare yourself and your equipment for a variety of species, and fish upwards of 50 pounds.

We will cover the gear necessities for taking larger fish, including reel and floatline basics, as well as how to rig your gun for each of these items.  From the importance of shot placement and surface interval preparation, to equipment intricacies including slip tip use and shooting line options, our gear gurus are experienced in all aspects of freedive spearfishing.

Discussion will include shooting line options for various hunting conditions, band length calculations and tying methods, Spectra splicing and cable rigging for slip tip use, floatline construction/attachment, reel use and set up, and emergency procedures for malfunctions on each type of gear.  We will discuss the importance of freedive/spearfishing specific gear, and how various types of fins, wetsuits, masks, snorkels, knives, floats/lines, reels, etc. can effect your freedive proficiency, water safety and hunting efficiency.

The scope of this clinic is not limited by any means – bring your questions and we will be sure to provide a wealth of knowledge.  Our goal is to prepare you for any situation you may encounter when stalking fish in the open ocean.

There is no cost for this clinic.  Each attendant will be allowed to bring one gun for rigging or discussion, and cost will be addressed according to the type of rigging provided.
